Dr. David Schexnaydre is an award-winning teacher, principal, and educational researcher. The 2023 Louisiana Overall State Principal of the Year, Schexnaydre is renowned for transforming school culture though a comprehensive plan focusing on belonging, empowerment, mindfulness, and growth mindset. Schexnaydre, who has been featured by Education Week and the National Association of Secondary School Principals, has traveled the country working with educators to help them energize their teachers, empower their students, and create a school culture of engaged and inspired learners.

A published author and dynamic speaker, Schexnaydre has presented to educators around the country, sharing his upbeat, energetic, and intentional approach to building a school culture where everyone feels a sense of belonging and anything is possible. Known for his ability to innovate, Schexnaydre garnered acclaim for harnessing the power of video to cultivate a positive school environment, with his videos going viral and surpassing two million views on social media. A highly-regarded educator, Schexnaydre’s schools have been recognized at the local, state, and national levels.

Dr. Schexnaydre's doctoral dissertation on teacher evaluation won the Louisiana Educational Research Association’s 2016 Outstanding Graduate Paper, and he was then selected by the American Educational Research Association to participate with his research at their annual conference in Washington, D.C. In 2017, he was chosen by America Achieves and the Louisiana Department of Education as one of only 24 to receive the Louisiana Voice Fellowship, and in 2019 he began working as an adjunct professor, teaching aspiring school leaders. Schexnaydre obtained his Bachelor of Science from Louisiana State University (2005), and his Master’s of Education (2010) and Doctor of Philosophy (2016) from the University of New Orleans.
